According to Mark Fields, Ford Motor Company Executive Vice President and President of The Americas there are plans to introduce new derivatives of the Mustang. We mentioned in an earlier article that the Boss is a possibility, but now we know better.

Mark Fields statement is more than clear in that respect:

“We added additional Mustang derivatives to our near-term product plans to ensure we have at least one new Mustang every year. One of those will be the return of the Bullitt, and its coming in 2008.”

This is great news, but we expected at least more info about the BOSS to confirm the rumors.

Most probably the Bullitt will bear a technical resemblance to the previous incarnation, will have distinctive colors, body trim options, badging, wheels and some modifications that will increase the power output above the GT.

At this time anything else is pure speculation, but one thing is for sure, there is still room for new and more powerful Mustangs, more so considering the VIP niche of the Shelby GT500.
